Tai Chi Principes Workshop
Tai Chi Principles Workshop with Harm Leerling - on August 3, 4 and 5, 2026
Do you feel the need to find relaxation and calmness through movement? Are you curious about how you can use your body and mind to achieve this? Then this Tai Chi Principles workshop is for you. Tai Chi is an ancient Chinese martial art based on gentleness and relaxation. And whether you are young or elderly, everyone can practice this art.
Many people today are familiar with the slow, graceful movements of Tai Chi. What is less well known is that what makes Tai Chi so effective are certain principles to which you pay constant attention. And whether you are lying, sitting, standing, or moving, you can deepen these principles more and more. The workshop provides you with simple Qi Gong exercises and Tai Chi movements to continue practicing independently afterwards. In doing so, you gain a powerful tool to maintain and cultivate calmness and relaxation in your daily life.
About the teacher, Harm Leerling:
"I have been practicing Tai Chi, Qi Qong, and meditation since 1998. When I first saw a group of people performing the Tai Chi form, I was sold. Even though I had no idea what I was actually looking at. It felt like coming home. A way to bring myself into harmony with myself and my surroundings. 'Give me 6 weeks,' I still hear myself saying to a friend. But just like everything of value, Tai Chi is a path of endurance, a way of life. Now, almost 3 decades later, I still feel like a student trying to unlock the secrets of this fascinating art.
Since 2000, I have been teaching the Yang-style short form of Prof. Cheng Man-Ch'ing (1901–1975). I started at STCC Amsterdam, where I still teach today. The School of Tai Chi Chuan (STCC) was founded by Patrick Watson (1937–1992), a senior student of Prof. Cheng Man-Ch'ing. For the past five years, my primary instructor has been Vincent Zee, himself a senior student of Wolfe Lowenthal. Lowenthal was also a student of Prof. Cheng Man-Ch'ing in New York from 1967 to 1975 and continues to teach in the US."
