Robbie Cornelissen (Utrecht, 1954) switched to the visual arts (Rietveld Academy) later in life after studying biology/ecology. He made a name for himself with his virtuoso pencil drawings in often monumental formats. His drawings and animated films are shown all over the world, for example, a major solo exhibition took place in the Kunsthalle Mannheim in 2022, with an emphasis on the relationship between his drawings and his films.
Robbie was a drawing teacher at Fine Art Artez in Arnhem, he is an advocate of drawing and regularly gives workshops for advanced and beginners. In 2018 he curated the exhibition The Line Up in Centraal Museum Utrecht, which presented a comprehensive overview of current drawing art. During the lecture in the Vermaning he will talk about his work and also show actual drawings in a smaller format. There will also be room to show the animated films, related to the drawings.
Robbie Cornelissen will then stay on Texel because he will give two drawing workshops during the weekends at the end of May and the beginning of June.
